This course is designed for non-accredited professionals responsible for managing or overseeing asbestos-related issues in commercial, industrial, institutional, and school facilities. Intended for building owners, facility managers, construction managers, maintenance personnel, environmental health and safety staff, and AHERA Designated Persons, the course provides an overview of asbestos-containing materials, health hazards, applicable regulations, inspections, management plans, operations and maintenance (O&M) programs, and asbestos abatement activities.
Participants will gain an understanding of their roles and responsibilities in managing asbestos and how asbestos issues affect facility operations, maintenance, renovation, and demolition projects. This course is for awareness and management purposes only and does not accredit individuals to perform regulated asbestos activities.
The curriculum satisfies the training requirements of 40 CFR Part 61.145(c)(8) (NESHAP) and 40 CFR Part 763.84(g)(1)–(2) (AHERA Designated Persons) and may be used by school districts to assist AHERA Designated Persons in meeting their required training responsibilities.
